The Tecumseh Alumni Association has been an unofficial group operated by members of the Tecumseh Schools Foundation for many years. Volunteers sponsored alumni gathering tents at football games on several occasions. On April 16, 2012, the Tecumseh Alumni Association became official under the umbrella of the Tecumseh Schools Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization. With 100 percent participation of both the Tecumseh Board of Education and Tecumseh Schools Foundation Board in terms of financial contributions, the TAA held its first brainstorming meeting on May 15, 2012, with more than 30 alumni and community members present. The group developed several goals. These goals will be revisited from time-to-time to make sure the TAA is meeting the needs of alumni and the community. The goals identified include:
-
harmony and pride in TPS;
-
recognition and awards (such as the Wall of Fame);
-
information clearinghouse (resource for reunion planners);
-
mentoring to students and recent grads;
-
volunteerism;
-
eventual financial support from alumni;
-
support for new and existing programs;
-
special projects
